comparisons

I probably read too many blogs.

But, some of the blogs I read often give me the really good kind of inspiration -- the kind that isn't about decorating or design or fun activities but about being grateful and trying to be better. One of these blogs did that today with this quote -- "Comparison is a thief of joy."

Let's just say it hit home for me. I won't share the things of mine that I've been comparing to others lately (mainly because once stated out loud they seem trivial), but I will say I have realized these comparisons have only made me feel less joyful -- and there is so much to be joyful about.

For example, today was my first real day with the girls by myself and the only meltdowns E had were during quiet time ... and we made it through. Even had some really great highlights including reading books with E while nursing L, having E cuddle next to me while we watched PBS, watching E splash in puddles outside and stand with her arms outstretched in the sprinkles, and seeing G pull into the driveway early.

Little-bit seems to be settled now, so I'm off to try to sleep again.
