the baby quiz

On Friday night, Britton and Courtney welcomed their second baby into the world -- a boy, Harrison "Rowe" Jones! Despite the freezing rain storm and closed interstates [Yes! They were closed for 24 hours!], I did make it up to Oxford to meet baby Rowe and see his new little family.

Now, before I share lots of pictures of our visit, I thought it'd be fun to have a little baby quiz. Babies included in the pictures below: Eden Brooks, Lydia, John Winters, Henry Winters, and Rowe. Can you name them correctly?

the start of the New Year

New Year's Eve!

To celebrate New Year's Eve, we made the long trek across the street to our neighbors' house, Todd and Erin Conti. EB and Lydia love their son Nicholas. Our other neighbors also came, which meant Piper and Chloe were also there to celebrate.

We missed out on our Sunday school friends' party but had fun nonetheless. There were a few crazy fireworks, and Mr. Todd fake falling as he ran back to the house after lighting one. The kiddos exchanged Christmas gifts, and the harmonicas that EB and L gave to their friends were a big hit.

We are thankful to have such fun neighbors and thankful for being able to watch our sweet girls sleep as we officially rang in the new year!

back at home

Since we had to leave CC and Granddaddy's earlier than planned, we ended up having a full week at home before school started for the girls. We tried potty training for two days. Miss Lydia is mentally ready but unfortunately she had a little tummy bug the two days I decided to try potty training. Needless to say, we put pull-ups on {which I thought I'd NEVER use} and are taking things slowly now. But more on that later.

For our week at home, we cleaned and straightened and put old toys in the attic.

Played with new toys, like Graham's new storage-bag air-puller-out thing {what is that called?!} ...

And listened to EB read us stories ...

The Nutcracker weekend

We also got to spend a weekend in December in Jackson for the annual Nutcracker performance! This meant a dinner at our friends the Wests' house with their precious daughters, Olive and Josie. We also got to help CC decorate her Christmas tree, had one of our celebratory Advent Breakfasts with our fun elves, and this year had an extra special treat in attending the Sugarplum Fairy's Tea before the Nutcracker performance. Josie and her mom Jennifer were our guests for the tea, and we also had CC, Aunt Janet, Aunt Kathy, Janet's sister-in-law and niece, and me and EB. Josie and EB were in awe meeting the ballerinas before the ballet. It was a wonderful weekend!
