school!!

Wow. The past few weeks have been crazy. Graham in Canada. CC here for a week. Starting work on campus. More on all that to come. Tonight, however, we got to visit PDO for orientation. It's all really starting!

All summer long, E has been wishing it was time for school. Seriously, at the start of summer, any time she asked what day it was and we answered with a week day, she asked if she got to go to school. Needless to say, she was pumped about going to orientation tonight. Lydia looked like a big girl tonight as she waited to go see her new classroom for this year.

When we entered the gym, we were first met by E's former TOTS teacher (sports/basketball skills class). She asked if Eden was coming back and said that she was always smiling and was just the sunshine in her class. Wow. That made my heart smile to hear it.

Graham reported that Miss Lydia LOVED her new room, especially the little play house with a working door that is exactly like what her Nona and Big Daddy have. E also enjoyed listening to her teacher in her new room. Notice the stack of papers under her arm ... she took drawings to give to all of her friends and former teachers.

Yes, I may be going crazy, but I've convinced Graham that we are going to try using E's double name for this school year. I've been calling her Eden Brooks for most of the summer, and I love it. So, we're just going to try it and see how it goes at school. Since I decided I only wanted to go by my middle name in first grade, and Graham decided go by his middle name for a while as a kid as well, I figure we might need to set E up with both as an option :).

I am so thankful for this loving place and for the eagerness E has shown for school. On the way home, she told me we should have just taken her nap mat tonight so that we could have just stayed and slept in her room. Let's hope the start of the year is much less dramatic this year than in year's past. We'll see on Monday!
