Since before Eden Brooks's birthday, we've been talking about getting her a bike. A few weeks ago (sorry, the start of the semester means behind on blog posts for a while), Eden and I went out for a normal Saturday - Farmer's Market, Southside Produce, Whole Foods, Albertsons. Only this time, we made an extra stop ... for a new bike.
I took her to the store and told her we were just going to look. Then, I asked her to try out a few bikes, and she chose the one she liked. Then, I asked her to put on a few helmets to see if one fit better than the others. Then, I told her we were going to keep them. Her face was priceless as was her hugging, jumping up and down, arms waving, and screaming in the middle of the store. :) Ashley's face was also priceless when we came home and Eden was riding a bike down the driveway. Double :)
New firsts this same week included ...
signing Ashley into church on the attendance pad (E said, "Let me do it." When she was done, Ashley looked down and saw this ... then almost teared up) ...
taking a drink from the fountain by herself without a stepstool ...
and getting a movie based on a book we just finished (though we have read a shortened version of Wizard of Oz, but not the entire book, so this is technically a first).
[Editor's Note: We only watched a little bit of this movie
since it is much too realistic and scary. Later in the week,
we picked up the BBC version from the 80s -- much more E's speed.]
It was a very big weekend for our little girl!
