Teeny toe & Big toe

This morning, I had what I think is a brilliant idea.

I showed E the shape of her foot -- how the teeny toe is smaller on one side and the big toe is tall on the other side. Then, I showed her her sandals since the foot of the sandal is much easier to see and showed her the teeny, small side and the tall, big side. Then, she looked for the match.

And, it worked! She even did it with my shoes - pointing out where the big toe goes and where the teeny toe goes.

We've tried telling her buckles shouldn't touch and other strategies for left shoe and right shoes, but this seems like it might actually work. Does everyone else already know this and tell this to their kids??

  1. my mom always drew a half of a heart inside one shoe and then the other half in the other shoe. in order for your shoes to be on the correct feet, we had to put the heart halves together. you can do it with stickers cut in half, too.
