EB (to AJB): I think I've always been a part of your family.
Ajb: what do you mean?
EB: I mean from before I was born. Not a part of Dad's family but yours. Like before, even before I was in your tummy. Like when you were little and everything.
AJB: Well actually, all girls have things in their bodies called eggs, they aren't really eggs like you know but they're called eggs. They are tiny and you can't see them but they are there. And so you are right...
The conversation continued along these lines and ended with Ashley saying it is complicated and she would explain more when it wasn't bedtime (which in Ashley's mind meant years from now). There was some talk about a mom and dad to which EB asked if "it was like germs when people share germs" which is scary analogous.
Where does she get this stuff. So smart...
P.S. Ashley's trick for avoiding difficult conversations right at bedtime is to say "Ask me in the morning and we can talk all about it." Works every time.
