her birthday

I still keep having to remind myself that we did really already have Lydia's first birthday. It is hard to believe - not because she isn't acting like a one year old {she is}, but because it seems to have gone by so quickly {and slowly at the same time}.

For Lydia's first birthday, we decided it would be most appropriate for her to have beignets for breakfast {E's gift to her sister}. We put out a pretend cupcake and candle and sang Happy Birthday numerous times since L gave it such a good reaction.

While she enjoyed chewing on the beignet and eating the powdered sugar, the grapefruit her daddy fed her was the bigger hit.!

Then, E helped her sister open a few more gifts -- a new sippy cup and a new dress made by yours truly.

It was a low key day. The girls went to school in their matching dresses {of course I had to make one for Eden, too}, and Graham and I went to campus. It really was fun to make the dresses since I haven't sewed in so long. The girls and I spent the afternoon at home, and then we attempted to get a picture of Lydia all dressed up on her birthday. Graham thought it would be funny to get a before-the-real-shot shot ...

Lydia's first day as a one-year-old was also a day of lasts - the last day of class for the semester and the last day she nursed. We made it an entire year! Way longer than I ever planned. She seemed completely fine with the transition since we've been working down to nursing just in the morning for the past month.

Lydia, we are thankful for you each and every day!!
