We've successfuly weaned Eden off most of her baby clutches - from breast feeding to bottle, bottle to cup no problems. From crib to day bed to big-girl bed, no problems. We think the paci might be different ...
She is in love with it ... and I say it because there is only one left. We have told her that she is getting to be a big girl and becoming too big for her paci. Her other pacis have broken (either cracked by themselves or by scissors) along the way, but this one is just stubborn. And adding to the argument, this one has a small crack in it ... something Eden says isn't a big deal (something like "Look! It still works!").
Ashley told her a story about other big girls who have been able to turn in their last paci for a new big girl toy. That seemed to be okay, but one day she told me that she wanted her toy to be a big girl paci.
Needless to say, I think we're in trouble ... wish us luck when we finally decide this one is broken.
I think that we'll be in this same situation in 18 months ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe had to go through the same thing with Spencer, even down to the last paci. We finally had him throw the last broken one away and made a big deal about it and about what a big boy he was.
ReplyDeleteHe was fine for about 15 minutes. Then he went into withdrawals every night (he only got it at night by then) for three nights. Seriously, he got the shakes and was all nervous and sad and it was almost funny. (Well, it's funny now.) And then he got over it.
Good luck! (It'll be over soon... :)
