Destin ... finally

My students finished taking their exam on Friday night at 9. I had my grades calculated and all my paperwork together by midnight. On Saturday morning, we packed, loaded the car, had lunch, and headed for Destin. 6 or 7 hours later, we arrived.

After a good night's sleep, we awoke for our first full day at the beach. Eden was excited about lots of stuff, but one of the first things she saw was her new kitty chair. She immediately moved it facing the ocean and sat down.

We had lots of different and new things to try. There was punch-ball on the porch ...

... the salt water (which she did finally get it on day 3 or 4) ...

... and her pool (which we bought after she tried to get the sand off her feet by stepping in her bucket and which she looooved).

She would sit in her pool (which was usually under a tent) and pour water out then ask for more water (of which there was plenty).

Our days usually consisted of waking up around 6:30 and eating breakfast number one. We would lounge around for a while going in and out of the sliding glass doors leading to the screened-in back porch. Breakfast number two when everyone else started getting up. Then, it was time for sunscreen and bathing suit so we could go down to the beach for 1 to 2 hours. When she was ready to go back up, she would ask for a towel and get dried off ...

... then up to the house for lunch, a little television is needed {she was addicted to Yo Gabba Gabba this trip and even picked up a few new "brainwashing" songs like Please-Thank You-Magic}, and a nap.

Upon waking from her nap, we usually played on the porch for a little while - bubbles were a hit most days.

Then we would go back down to the beach for aour afternoon session. Come back up and get a bath. Join everyone for a yummy dinner and then snuggle with the person of the evening before bedtime. (This particular evening it was Matt.)

This was just day one. There's more to come.
