christmas eve

After her nap, we got Eden dressed and packed the car on our way to my parents' church for their Christmas Eve service for kids. She slept pretty much until we had to leave, so we packed some snacks ...

This year was special since it was the first time in two years that all of the Bodie children have been home for Christmas at the same time. Eden made sure to make the rounds before the service began.

The headliners were the Cloth Disciples, a group of singing puppets. Last year Eden was so excited about them that we decided to turn it into a family tradition. It did not disappoint this year either. Although she was a bit fussy during the first part of the service {the whole sickness plus teething thing}, once the Cloth Disciples hit the stage, her demeanor changed to "oooohhhh, aahhhh, hahahaha."

During the service it started raining quite heavily so my dad and I went to get the cars, and Eden played in the lobby ...

... and asked her Aunt Ashley why the puppets had to stop ...

When we got back it was time for a little nap on the kitchen floor ...

... then it was time to open Eden's wrapped presents {hey, she's the first grandchild, what'd you expect?}. She got lots of fun things including a The Night Before Christmas book read by Nona and Big Daddy {the people who designed the book obviously thought about smart toddlers like Eden who are apt to find the record button - she likes to push it and listen to it say "Record. Record. Record." It's locked so Nona and Big Daddy's voices are saved for posterity}.

She liked all her presents, but some of her favorites were books ... which she had to stop and read.

To cap off the night, we took a family portrait, put Eden to bed, and had a wonderful meal. It was nice to have everyone together, albeit for a short time. Eden really enjoyed opening presents {i.e., pulling paper out of bags and ripping wrapping paper}, and we really enjoyed watching her enjoy it.
