1-Month Update

On Friday, April 11, Eden had her 1-month checkup. The doctor was quite impressed when she weighed in at 6 lbs. 6 oz. - that's a gain of 1.5 pounds over two weeks (pretty impressive when you only weigh 4 lbs. 10 oz. to start ... and 5 lbs. at 2 weeks of life - for all you math nuts, that's a gain of 28% of her body weight in 2 weeks)!

This should not be surprising given that when we feed her from a bottle, she now eats over 4 ounces (at 2 weeks it was barely an ounce). She has also been eating every 1 - 2 hours lately ... perhaps a growth spurt?

Thirty years ago (almost to the day - April 10, 1978), Ashley's measurements at her one-month check-up were 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 19.5 inches - eerily similar given Eden was a month early.

Since Eden was over 6 lbs at her check-up, we celebrated by letting her try out the bouncy chair (you have to weigh at least 6 lbs before that can happen). Here's how her first experience went ...

She's also moving quite a bit more now. Here's how we found her at the end of a nap after putting her down to sleep on her back ...

As evidenced by this picture, she has grown quite a bit (19.25 inches).

Here are some 1-month pics of our baby girl.
