pirate party

On Sunday after we returned from our big adventure, Keegan had is 4-year birthday party - a pirate party at the museum. E had wanted to be Captain Red Boots from Backyardigans for weeks - so we worked up an awesome outfit; I even made a vest with gold buttons sewn on that E picked out from my stash. On Saturday night as we were pulling everything together (sash, new play sword, gold chain necklace, ruffly shirt with the sleeves taken in), she pronounced it "so awesome."

Something happened on the way to the party, I think it was the heat. This is how she felt about her costume once we got there ...

Ugghh. Really E? Had to bribe her with chocolate to even get one picture. Thankfully, I packed an extra dress, so all became right with the world again.

Lydia's gift to Keegan {E gave him a Jack the Pirate Ship
that shot out plastic things from the cannon}

The party was very relaxed and the kids had a great time. I got to be the official photographer for the event, so no pics of me and E together. Oops. Afterward, we stopped by the museum play rooms and later that night she finished things off with her take-home treasure map.

Very thankful to have such good friends here in Baton Rouge!
