14 month update

On July 3rd, Lydia turned 14 months ... wow!

Even though this write-up is late, the pictures were actually taken around her 14-month day.

Just in the past week, she has switched herself to taking just one nap a day, and her personality continually grows.  For instance, although she knows a number of signs, she really wants to talk - when you ask her to say something she literally tries to say it (her sister would always sign and had little interest in speaking like Lydia does).

She is also understanding more and more ... she knows where she gets her diaper changed, where we take a bath (at our house and at CC and Grandaddy's), where we eat, where we go outside, and where Momma is in the morning (asleep, or at least trying to rest, in her bed).

She is still a bit behind on the teeth - having only 3 fully through at this point (the bottom two and one on the top in the front)! She does know where they are and can show them to you if you ask...

She also knows her ears, hair, tummy, tongue, mouth, and how to give hugs (she leans her head onto you for her hugs) ...

She smiles for the camera when you say "say cheese" ...

... and she is still really cute when she sleeps (though as you can see her favorite sleep toy is a pacifier in her hand along with one in her mouth).

Each day it seems as if she is getting more into books, now "reading" them on her own in her crib, on the couch, on the floor, in the car, and in her multiple chairs.

She'll also give you a kiss when she feels like it by using her tongue and top lip to make the kissing sound ...

And she is really getting into climbing on things, especially the couch once the cushions are off (or really wherever her sister is).

Perhaps our favorite new development is her ability to do shapes! Very impressive! She is addicted to this toy ...

Our little Lydia is growing up so much.
