As we were reading Curious George tonight and the part where George rides home in the little blue car with his friend the man with the yellow hat, Lydia said, "He's not a friend. He a grown-up." And then asked, "Why he sit there? Why he sit in the front? He should sit in the back like me. He's little." Then she told me I was not her friend, I'm a grown-up. Pretty observant.

L: Mommy, I not wipe your kisses off. That make you happy.
EB to her babysitter as they were watching the animated movie "Paper Bag Princess": This really isn't anything like the book. {{Her academic parents were so proud to hear about this one!}}
Lately, Lydia says "anything" when she means "nothing." So, when she's getting frustrated and doesn't want you to say anything else and you ask "What should I say?" she sighs and says "Anything!"
Today, EB's friend Ava was over to play. As they were all eating lunch, Lydia did something she was proud of and must have told the other two girls. Ava responded, "That's easy." EB immediately said to Ava, "Don't say that. She's little and can't do everything as easy as you can do. You should encourage her and say 'Good job, Lydia'" -- I can't tell you how proud I was in that moment! Made me think something is working right.
After meeting her new principal, EB said, "She looks young; maybe she'll stay for a long time."
EB -- "Momma, will Daddy be alive when you are dead since he is younger than you are?"
Whenever you call Lydia anything other than Lydia -- sweet girl, my little munchkin, crazy girl, silly goose -- she says, "I NOT ----, I Lydia!"
