Here's one more post that should have gone up a long time ago. In October, Eden, Lydia, and I made a girls' trip up to Brookhaven for a small family reunion with my Grandmama's family. I say small because Grandmama had 10 brothers and sisters, so growing up there were always lots and lots of family at this reunion every summer. We even had a ping-pong tournament and talent show each year. This year, the reunion was planned just a few weeks in advance so not everyone was able to make it, but it was wonderful to see those who were there. Of course, I didn't take nearly enough pictures, but I did get a few ...
Despite hurting my back the day before, I successfully made the drive with both girls by myself {thanks to an icy-hot back patch. Funny story ... Daddy was sitting in a chair next to me at the kitchen table at Aunt Jean's and started to sniff a little. I had forgotten to tell him I was wearing the patch :) }. It helped that Momma and Daddy pulled off the interstate coming from Jackson at the Brookhaven exit less than one minute after I pulled off. Perfect timing1
Thankfully, both girls slept on the way home!
This rarely happens, but for our past few long road trips, we've been able to tell Eden that it will go a lot faster if you just close your eyes and sleep for a bit. The crazy thing is that she said OK and then did it.
This whole becoming a real adult thing is very bittersweet. Really missed my Grandmama and Granddaddy and Uncle Jay that day. I'm so thankful that I was able to make it to the reunion.
