Buttercup

You all know that Miss EB has been begging for a pet for at least a year. Once we moved to the new house, we realized we'd either have to fulfill the promise we'd made to her or decide that we weren't going to keep our promise to her. We decided to keep our word.

Meet Buttercup Princess Pea/"P" ... Princess Velvet Buttercup... Buttercup Velvet Princess. Those are all the names for the cat, who is currently going by Buttercup.

The day that we got her, her info sheet said "Destiny," and that's what it felt like. We got to Pet Smart a little after the time the internet stated start time. There were only a few kittens there. This one showed up in a crate carried by a little girl who had been fostering her for 4 weeks. This was her first trip out for adoption. EB was the first person to hold her. It took approximately 12 seconds for EB to fall in love.

Although we looked at a few others, she asked to hold "Destiny" before we were going to leave. The next thing I knew a 5 year old convinced me "This is the one, Daddy!"

EB is great with her - holds her gently, pets her, lets her explore and play ... and even shares her with Lydia (who is a bit less gentle but is getting better).

We're hoping that Buttercup turns out to be as sweet of a cat as she is a kitten - she purrs and licks, sits in EB's lap and likes to follow her around. She even puts up with Lydia's holding technique (grab by neck and squeeze tight) without contest.

She lived in the bathroom exclusively for the first 4 days (hence the holding while sitting on the toilet).

Taking a tour of the house ...

She really likes her tower - sitting up top looking out the window.

And she likes to find tables and other surfaces to climb on and take a rest.

Overall, she is a happy addition to the family!
