Ladybug Girl's Party

Prior to her real birthday, we started the celebration on Saturday with a super-hero party - a few of her friends were invited to dress up in their favorite costume (Eden was Ladybug Girl). There was Batman, Ironman, a pirate, and several versions of miscellaneous characters.

Of course, we were especially excited about family ... Aunt Ashley came and had fun, among other things, feeding Lydia.

While we were waiting on people to arrive, the kiddos hung out in the yard playing games ...

... and enjoying all the balloons!

The hit of the party was, however, the superhero scavenger hunt. We had clues directing the kiddos to various parts of the yard. The first clue led each to his or her own cape {hand-made by Ashley}. The second clue led them to the toy box by the swing where they found ...

... individual letter bags with attached ballons.

Then, they were off to find super letters ...

... garden tools ...

... and the final location was the garden where they dug up burried treasure (gold covered chocolate coins).

After a quick run-around-the-yard ...

... we had lunch

then sang happy birthday and ate two wonderful cakes {with family and friends all around and even Aunt Sarah singing on the phone}.

With all the excitement, we couldn't forget that Lydia was making a new friend!

Filled with sugar, we decided it a good time to open presents...

which included Candy Land - and Eden started to get the hang of it!

Family pictures ...

And a few photos from the day before the party, getting ready ...

Here are the two cakes Ashley made on Friday ... a pink cake with sugar pearls per Eden's request ...

and her Grandmama's caramel cake ...

On Sunday, the festivities continued at Rick and Shelley's (parents of Caroline and Camile) where we got to sing Happy Birthday to Ashley and eat, well, more cake (and a great meal to boot) and cupcakes prepared by Marie and spend time with visiting friends Jennifer, David, and Josie West.

Although exhausted, we had a blast celebrating the two birthdays. We now have a 4 and a 30+4 year old in our house ... wow ...

  1. cutest scavenger hunt ever! I might have to use some of your ideas for a certain 4 year old's birthday party in July!
