Lately, Lydia has been obsessed with doing buttons. She was soooo very proud when she was actually successful a few weeks ago. Thought she gets really frustrated and cries out when it doesn't work right away, she just keeps right on going and eventually gets it on her own. She definitely does not want help while she is trying.
We also decided a few weeks ago that it was time to give Lydia her own big-girl bed, since she'd been asking for a few weeks. We've had a matching iron twin bed in the attic all year since Shelley (Caroline and Camille's mom) gifted us her girls old twin beds. We were just waiting for Lydia to be ready. It helped that her "crib bed" is going to her cousin John Winters - she loves that he is going to use it. Here's how the room looked right before we switched things up ...
One last pic in her "crib bed" ...
And the new room!!
It has made my heart happy each night when I check on them before I go to bed. We did use zip ties to connect the beds so that they don't separate during the night or playtime. The girls love to roll across the beds and play "Momma and baby." We also decided it was time to finally get a glider for the girls' room ...
Actually, when I asked Graham about finally getting it, he said, "I love you. If you want to get one, you should. ... ... Plus, I don't want to hear you say when EB goes off to college, 'I just wish I'd had a glider to rock her in." :) His true feelings came out in the end.
So, I've been rocking the girls each night before they go to sleep, and it has been glorious. The first night, EB literally fell asleep in my arms, and I thought, "That's the best money I've every spent." Since then, she just pretends to be asleep but I'll take it! Lydia likes to be rocked a few times but always asks to get in her bed when she's really sleepy.
So, that's the girls' room update. We're loving it.
