a hole in her wall

The other night as we were lying in her bed talking about her day, E randomly told me that she wanted to make a hole in her wall so that she could just say "Mom, come in here" at night while she was trying to go to bed {instead of screaming for me in the den}. I asked her why she wanted a hole in the wall and she explained that the den was just "through there," pointing through her wall. Here's a diagram I made of her plan {because I just couldn't help myself} ...

We then talked about putting in a window that could open and close and conferenced with her Uncle Britton the next day about how one would actually go about putting a window in an inside wall. She has petitioned us for this plan a few times, but unfortunately we're leasing, so no holes in the walls for now. If this was our house, however, I'd be going for this plan as it makes perfect sense.

On another note, do all kids understand the layout of their house like this? It would make my heart go pitter-patter if she wanted to draw blueprints of dream houses one day, like my brother and I did when we were little. A mom can dream, right?

On a completely different note, here are the shoes she wore yesterday ...

Hand-me-downs from Fable and Ever. She loves them, loves that they "match" my sandals, and is seriously growing up too fast.
