JW & HW

This all really started quite a long time ago. It was at least a few years ago, before either of them began to have kids, that my brother and sister both announced they liked and planned to use the name Winters, after our dad's dad Joseph Winters Jones, Sr.

It was a long, somewhat tense conversation, with Whitney saying whoever used it first could have it, and Britton saying that he didn't care if she used it first, he'd used it anyway.

And, so, they did.

Whitney had the first grandson, John Winters Little, on May 2.

Britton and Courtney welcomed their first child into the world this past Tuesday, June 26. They named him Henry Winters Jones, and he is amazingly perfect. Just like his cousin.

And, just like his cousin, they're calling him Winters ...

For now, we've been using JW and HW when we write about them to each other. I'm sure other nicknames may follow, but I think it will be kind of cool for each of them to have a cousin so close in age somewhere else in the world {since JW will probably travel many places with his dady's Air Force job} that shares part of their name.

Here is their first photo "together" -- which I thankfully was able to take at the hospital {in north Mississippi!} on Wednesday ...

I feel so blessed and so thankful that Eden Brooks and Lydia will have cousins so close in age and that I am going to get to see both of my siblings grow as wonderful parents.

Somewhere in all this, I think there is a story just waiting to be written ... A Tale of Two Winters ... sounds interesting, don't you think?

  1. Such a cool name - and doubly special with two precious boys bearing it! Looks like Britton might have just inadvertently given his nephew the nickname Old Man Winters :)
