For the past two days, Eden has not ridden home with me from school.
She didn't even come home right after school.
Nope, Miss Eden had back-to-back playdates with different classmates where she rode home with them and then they brought her home to me later in the afternoon. She had a grand time. I got some stuff done while Lydia napped and then wondered if I was getting a weird preview of years to come and waiting for her to come home.
For the past three years, most of our playdates have included the moms -- pretty fun stuff. E has played a few times at someone's house but it always seemed to be that they picked her up from home. Last week, one of the moms from PDO told me her daughter had been asking and asking for Eden to come over and play. So, we set something up for yesterday and since Lydia has been taking long naps in the afternoons, the mom just offered to take E home with her and have another mommy drop her off on their way home. Easy.
Then today when I picked Eden up at PDO, another mom said her son had been talking and talking about Eden coming over and had even been planning things with Eden this morning. When I asked Eden if she wanted to come home and play with me or go to John Michael's house, she started jumping up and down and yelling to John Michael, "I'm coming over today! For real, right now, I'm coming to your house!" Pretty clear answer.
When she was dropped off this afternoon, they were watching a Peter Pan movie in the car. Here's how she spent the next 30 minutes at home finishing out the borrowed movie ...
Graham and I are thinking that her skills at pretending to be a fire-breathing lion {she told us she breathes fire on the bad guys/the preK boys that are pretending to shoot all the girls} must be a big hit with her classmates.
Tomorrow, thankfully, I've got her all to myself.
