Eden at Ballet

Last Tuesday, Eden started ballet. Excited does not even begin to describe how she felt. On Saturday, she rewrote the weekly calendar claiming that Tuesday was next. When we broke the bad news, she said "I just wish it was Tuesday!" She asked us no less than three times a day, every day for the week, how many more days  were left before Tuesday.

When Tuesday finally got here ... well, pictures are worth 1,000 words -

... and all that was BEFORE it even started! Afterward ...

from Ashley ... Thankfully, Graham came home a bit early to keep the little one while Eden and I went to her first class. Eden seemed to really enjoy the class. She spent the ride home and the rest of the night spouting out different things she learned from class including jumping over the alligator pit (learning how to do leaps), dancing with a stuffed teddy bear (learning how to hold her arms), and showed us how to put her feet into proper position.

The only hiccup came when we got to the car and she asked me what I had seen her do (oh, dagger to the heart since all I wanted to do for the 45 minutes was be able to see her excited little face). When I told her I had to wait in the lobby with the other parents, big tears filled her eyes. By the time we got home, however, she was begging to go back. Thankfully, she now thinks of it as "ballet school" where I get to come watch every now and then (thanks, CC, for that idea). This week, the class was great! She told me on the way to class that she was not going to be shy and that she was going to use her good manners. When we left, she spent the entire car ride home telling me all about class and practicing how to say plie.

Here are some pics from last week before she went to her first class ...

Graham and Eden practice this all the time - from The Nutcracker - she even makes him do this right before he leaves her classroom for drop-off. No idea why Graham ended up wearing that hat ...

Thank you, Aunt Beverly, for Eden's early birthday gift of ballet class and to Nona for her new ballet attire. She is over the moon for this!
