at bedtime ...
E: After this night, what day is it?
ajb: Monday. Today is Sunday, and tomorrow is Monday.
E: After this night, it's Monday? [uh-huh] What do we do on Monday?
ajb: Well, on most Monday's, you go to school, but since you have a cold, we'll just have to see when you wake up.
E: After this night, we'll have to see?
ajb: Yes, we'll get up and check your nose and see how you feel.
E: After this night, I'll go [sniff-sniff] and see if there is any fluid in my nose. ... ... ... Ask me how I know that word.
ajb: How do you know that word?
E: You taught it to me.
While driving down the road, she told Graham to go the "speed lemon."
After someone approached Graham at the gas station trying to sell him something, she asked what had happened. I said, "That man was just trying to sell your daddy something." For some reason, it made me feel really old.
After raising my voice to her in a really stern and frustrated tone (I had asked her twice already to start cleaning up), she looked at me completely frustrated and said, "If you yell at me one more time, I'm going to scream."
She loves it when I tell her stories about things I did when I was little [especially about the dentist putting a cage in my mouth so I wouldn't suck my thumb]. Anyhow, after hearing about Britton's bunk beds, Whitney sleeping in my bed with me, and playing in the sprinkler's in the front yard while CC and Granddaddy sat on the porch, she said, "I wish I was little when you were little so we could play together."
While driving down the road, she started pointed out a giant, inflatable monster on top of the halloween store building ...
E: Look at that big monster with the blue face, Mom. He only comes out on Mondays ... ... What today is it?
Me: Thursday.
E: Oh. He only comes out on Thursdays.
Graham had a meeting and Lydia was asleep, so we were having dinner just the two of us. Earlier that day, Eden had spilled milk on her clothes at school. At the dinner table, she said,
Eden: Don't tell Daddy about my clothes. Don't tell him.
Me: Why not, baby?
Eden: Because, it's my question. I can tell if if I want. It's my question to tell.
