While sitting on her bed at bedtime, this random comment made its way into the conversation ...
E: I saw a TV show and the people ate bugs!!
Me: What?! They ate bugs?! No way. What did they eat?
E: They ate ants! But they were dead. They were old men that ate the bugs. I don't eat bugs. I am not an old man. I'm a new girl.
While in the car at the end of the three hour drive from Jackson ...
E: This is taking too long.
G: What, baby?
E: This is too long! We need to move closer to CC and Granddaddy so we don't have to drive.
The next day she said Target needed to move closer and so did swim lessons.
One day at lunch, Lydia was asleep in her swing, and I had finally been able to get our lunches on the table at the same time. I finally sat down at the table, took a few bites of food, and looked up to see E holding one of her play phones (an old one of mine) that I had charged that morning. Without looking up at me, she said ...
I'm pushing a lot of buttons.
The whole time she was holding the phone with both hands and typing keys with her thumbs. I was being ignored by a 3-year-old who was texting.
While sitting in the den, she whispered to me ...
E: I have a secret to tell you ...
Me: What?
E: I love you, too.
Me: Thank you, baby. I love you.
E: I have another secret to tell you ...
Me: What? Tell me.
E: I love ... your ears.
During dinner tonight, Graham was tending to Lydia in the den, and Eden and I were at the table. She looked over at me with big eyes and whispered loudly ...
E: Daddy is the best!
Me: I think so, too.
E: And he's funny.
While drying her hair one night last week, I was trying to talk to her about how she did such a great job putting herself to sleep the night before ... talking about what you have to do to help yourself go to sleep, how it's not easy, etc. She was sitting in front of me putting her legos together while I was brushing her hair and said,
E: I know! I know! I know. No more talking.
Me: Do you want me to just dry your hair without talking anymore?
E: Yesss!
She often says things like "I'm just so frustrated." or "It's all my fault." when she isn't getting what she wants or is upset. Other times she growls or roars at us in utter frustration, but I guess that's not really something she said :).
