We decided to sign Eden up for swim lessons this summer. It went something like this ...
- Monday: She went, cried for nearly the entire lesson, then afterward talked about how much she wanted to do it again.
- Tuesday: She went with her teacher (Nicole) to the pool with no contest, cried very little, and talked about how much she wanted to do it again.
- Wednesday: She woke up and when I mentioned swimming she said she did now want to go. She was fine putting on her swimsuit, but when her teacher tried to take them to the pool it was full 3-year-old protest mode. She wailed. She begged to go home. She kicked. She cried. Luckily, Ashley was there to calm her but would not let her go home. They sat near the pool, watched through the fence, talked, and Eden finally asked about what she was missing. Then, mysteriously, she let one of the teachers take her in. The snowcone at the end also helped.
- Wednesday night she asked to have her goggles in the bathtub, and she made us pretend to be the teacher and tell her what to do. She dove in, held her breath, and "swam" for a good 20 minutes.
- Thursday: She woke up asking if we could go early; then, she swam by herself for 10 seconds at a time in the pool.
That weekend she went to Jackson where there is a pool. She showed off her mad skills with great pride to her CC and Granddaddy (and Fable, Ever, Aunt Allison, and Uncle Jeff).
The next week was full of her enjoying mostly every minute of the lessons (all but the point where they spin her around and then drop her into the pool - practicing what would happen if she fell into the pool on accident).
On Thursday of the last week, they had a parents viewing day. Here is what it looked like:
[Since Grace came to visit a few weeks ago, Eden has been randomly turning into Grace saying, "I'm Grace." She kept it up at swim one day for an entire lesson. One night at home while pretending to be Grace, Eden even asked where the bathroom was after announcing that she needed to go. Crazy girl.]
