road trip

Our first adventure was a road trip to see Boston and Whitney in San Antonio. Britton and Courtney made the trip complete, driving in to Baton Rouge on the Thursday evening before we left. We all woke up on Friday morning, had some breakfast, kissed Eden, and hit the road.

We got there around 5:30 (about an 8 hour trip with stops) and headed out to dinner at La Hacienda, known for its puffy tacos. The owner was featured on Throwdown with The Food Network's Bobby Flay. Of course, I had just had gum surgery so I had to imagine how they tasted.

After dinner we visited the Air Force base and went back to the apartment to watch a real live chess throw down ... really it was less like a battle and more like a "I'll move this piece here" showdown.

On Saturday, we woke up, had breakfast, and spent 2.5 hours floating down a river. [Ashley has pics on a waterproof camera but that pesky 35mm film has to be developed]. After showers we had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and Boston, Whitney, Ashley and I headed to see Michael Buble in concert (Britton and Courtney decided to go see an IMAX).

We woke up Sunday morning and headed out a little early so that we could make Courtney's dreams come true and experience IKEA - it was in Houston on the way back. We decided to only spend an hour there ... ended up being more like 2, but we did get Eden a new kitchen (post to come).

Fortunately, we got back in time to see E go to bed (and to meet her new puppy dog, Clifford). The next morning we woke up, had blueberry pancakes, and sang good-bye to Britton and Courney (after a few books).
