back in business

Wow. After officially starting the big, final move into our new house one week ago today, we finally have cable and internet hooked up at the new place. It's been a week without being in business with the blog, and while we've had plenty of other things to do, it's nice to be able to check up on things and share our recent adventures.

The photo above of my new bedside table is one of the lovely new spots in our house that is actually calming and "finished" -- oh, and the hydrangeas are from the backyard! The owner of the house told us that his mother was in love with blue {blue carpet, blue outside color on the house, blue trim and walls inside, there is even still blue tile in one of the baths}. Anyhow, most of that has changed now, but I was thrilled to see the blue hydrangeas in the backyard. They seem perfect for this home.
Now, don't go lettin' that little spot fool you. If I turn around and look in other direction, this is what I see on the back porch* ...

We've almost completely unpacked all the boxes but still have a good bit of settling in to do. Thankfully, Graham is a master at getting things done early so most of the boxes and kitchen were in here and mostly unpacked before the big move last weekend.

During E's down time over the next few days, I'll be getting up pics from all that has happened over the past few weeks, and I'm sure that Graham will get some of our memories written down soon, as well.

Some highlights include ...
  • loving the beach
  • a quick trip to Jackson
  • riding in a golf cart with CC and Granddaddy
  • the toddler bed diaries
  • and Eden now saying sure when she means yes sometimes. As in, "May I have some of your blueberries, Eden?" "Sure, Momma." Cuteness indeed.
More to come soon.

{*I've been calling this enclosed room on the back of the house the back porch, but Graham thinks it should be the laundry room. We're still in negotiations about the name. I think we'll just end up calling it what each of us likes. I figured if you use a different name to refer to the same person depending on whom you're talking to, that Graham can just use a different name for that room and the "other bedroom," our guest room, which he likes to call "The Inn," when he's talking to me.}
