It seems Eden does not like it when I spend time "getting dressed."
Perhaps, she knows that means I might actually leave the house so she's voicing her opinion. Today, as I was trying to dry my hair, Eden was whining her concern and asking me to pick her up. She was pacified when I sat on the floor to dry my hair and she could help. She walked off after a minute, and I thought she'd gotten enough of a "fix." I was wrong.
A few seconds later she walked back over with one of the decorative pillows for the bed (in a former life it was made to be a kitchen chair cushion), put the pillow on the floor a few feet away from me, and patted to the floor next to her asking me to sit down with her ... all while the hair dryer was still going. After I told her I needed to finish drying my hair, she tried tactic number two.
She got up from her pillow and walked to the other side of the bed. A few seconds later, she came back with a second pillow and, you guessed it, put it down next to hers, patted it and motioned for me to come sit with her.
I mean what can you do? You turn off the hair dryer and sit down on the floor with wet hair to visit with your baby. I did take the fingernail scissors with me so I could trim while we "talked," and Eden then moved over and sat inbetween my legs as close to me as she could to watch.
This was all super sweet, and it was even more endearing as she started to cry when I tried to leave to go to the store. But don't worry, I'm not getting a big head. All I had to do was say the magic words {a.k.a. "Do you want to watch Elmo for a bit with Daddy?"} and the total meltdown was averted within a second. She immediately turned and walked toward the couch, said "bye bye, Mommy," and leaned her head up to give my a bye-bye kiss. Trumped by Elmo. Nice.
