that hurts my ears

The other day, Eden was in a very whiney spell. For what seemed like forever, she responded to everything (and every 30 seconds it seemed) with a whine {as the dictionary says, "a high-pitched, usually nasal, complaining cry or sound"}.

I thought, "Oh.My.Gosh.Can you please not do that again?!!!!!!!! I can't take this another time."

So, I knelt down beside her {I was really trying to handle this the right way this time and remembered reading about this approach so I thought I'd give it a try}, and said to E, "Eden, when you say that, when you say anhhhh, anhhh, it hurts Mommy's ears. You need to stop. It hurts."

She looked at me with deep, thinking eyes ... put a hand on either side of my face ... turned my head ... and leaned in and kissed the middle of my ear.

I thought, "Oh.My.Gosh.She is the cutest thing ever!!!!!!!!"
