... for summer.
Just before we went out of town to enjoy Sarah and Robbie's wedding, we had the last week of school. Both our girls made an impression on their teachers, with Lydia's teachers commenting on how sweet she is (how she even sits with the other kids when they are sent to time-out even though she never had to go to time-out herself) and EB's teacher commenting on how well she fit in even though she was there only half the year.
From EB's teacher ...
-- HI again, Just read your emails and wanted to let you know that I AM
planning to have the Splash Bash WEDNESDAY. I hope that will make for a
fun last memory for Eden Brooks - she has been such a sweet, fun and
VERY popular addition to our classroom. The boys have started fighting
over who gets to sit by her at carpool so I had to assign turn-taking
days while today when we played her great CD, Rebekah got upset because
E.B. was holding hands with Rome and Logan (and not HER) while they
danced to the music in a circle. Looking forward! Ms. Jeannie --
We're still smiling about that ...
Here is how we found Lydia about 2 out of 4 days of the week at pick up ...
End of the year with her teachers (neither of whom wanted to be in the picture, thus the hiding behind the 2 year old).
On her last week, EB finally got to do the "secret thing in a bag," a.k.a. Secret Sharing activity. They put something in a bag, think of 5 clues, write those clues in a notebook, then give a speech to the class and have them all guess what is in the bag. Her "thing in the bag" was a horse, her Aunt Whitney's horse . Her clues ... 1. It begins with an H. 2. It has long hair. 3. It has small ears. 4. 5. It walks.

Lydia's birthday lunch
The weekend of Lydia's birthday party, her CC and Granddaddy stayed in town for church on Sunday and a little playtime with the girls. When EB and her Granddaddy pick the restaurant, you can bet it's going to be Picadilly. It's also pretty easy to see who was in charge after lunch ...

here's what really happened
So, here's what really happened when I was trying to get EB's five-year-old portrait.
We started out taking crazy photos, whatever she wanted ...
[Forgive me having a million photos. I did edit them. Really. Just didn't feel like making a collage of all the similar silly ones]
Then, thinking she was in a good mood, I had her slip on her flower girl dress ...
Lydia kept sneaking in all the photos ...
We called it a day once she'd really reached her limit. Came back the next morning to try again and ended up with these ...

the runners up
The photos above were taken early this morning and the ones below were the day before, late afternoon. Seems like the morning sunlight and where the shadows fell in the yard were better in the morning. Anyhow, it's always hard for me to pick just one photo.
