2-Week Checkup - Friday, March 28, 2008

On Friday, March 28, Eden had her 2-week checkup. She weighed 5 pounds and measured 18.75 inches - a gain of 6 ounces and 3/4 of an inch since leaving the hospital. We were surprised when the nurse practitioner said she was surprised they let Eden go home under 5 pounds...that is the first we had been told that! Neither of us could imagine not having Eden with us for the past two weeks. Then, the nurse practitioner said, "She's perfect," to which we replied, "We know." We went home and celebrated by having some "belly time" then being amazed as she focused attention on our faces and her friends George the Giraffe and Dan the Duck. Since her cord had fallen off that morning, we gave her her first "real bath" - in the kitchen sink (pictures to come).

At this point, we're still trying to figure out her eating and sleeping habits - she often stays awake for nearly an hour after eating (and sometimes wants to eat again before falling to sleep).




This is Eden's first outfit with pants...she wanted to wear it SO BADLY since her cord fell off...so we let her. Thanks "Aunt" Jennie.

At 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, we took a picture to commemorate Ashley's 36th week of pregnancy...just to have one before a regular checkup.





Then it all changed!


There are few things more wonderful and exciting than the birth of a child. Well, that's what they tell you...but you don't really know how true that is until you have one of your own. So, we did.

At 2:55 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 Eden Brooks Bodie was born. She weighed an impressive 4 lbs., 15 oz. and was 18 inches in length. Not bad for someone who decided to come 4 weeks early.

Although 10 out of 10 parents would agree that their baby is "the cutest," we have proof of our assertion. Please enjoy these pictures for now...surely there are more to come of our beautiful baby girl!
